Way back in 1967 the school was established by the Portuguese Community for its children to appreciate and learn the Portuguese Language and Culture. This desire still continues today as Lusitania’s children are offered this opportunity via the provision of a Portuguese Teacher from the Institute Camões sponsored by the Ministry of Education in Portugal and two other Portuguese teachers – one from Portugal, the other a local Portuguese Teacher - who promote the Portuguese Language and Culture via innovative teaching methods for our pupils from Pre-School up to Grade 7, to the extent that our Grade 6 Pupils are able to write the International Grade 1 Portuguese Examination confidently and competently.
