Music

It helps the body and the mind work together.
For children and adults, music helps strengthen memory skills.

Unleash Your Musical Talent

Overview:

At our school, the sound of music resonates through every corridor. Our Culture Department boasts an exceptional music program, ranging from instrumental and vocal training to ensemble performances. Whether you aspire to play an instrument, refine your singing voice, or join one of our exceptional choirs, our dedicated music department is committed to nurturing your musical talent and helping you reach new heights.

Included below are just a few reasons as to why it is important to include music in the curriculum:

  • Musical training helps develop language and reasoning: Students who have early musical training will develop the areas of the brain related to language and reasoning. The left side of the brain is better developed with music, and songs can help imprint information on young minds.
  • A mastery of memorization: Even when performing with sheet music, student musicians are constantly using their memory to perform. The skill of memorization can serve students well in education and beyond.
  • Emotional development: Students of music can be more emotionally developed, with empathy towards other cultures. They also tend to have higher self-esteem and are better at coping with anxiety.
  • Music builds imagination and intellectual curiosity: Introducing music in the early childhood years can help foster a positive attitude toward learning and curiosity. Artistic education develops the whole brain and develops a child’s imagination.
  • Kids can learn teamwork: Many musical education programs require teamwork as part of a band or orchestra. In these groups, students will learn how to work together and build camaraderie.

Choir

Our school choirs participate in National Institute of Allied Arts, and we are proud to have won major accolades.

Several choir members also represent Zimbabwe at the World Choir Games.

Jazz Band

If you have an affinity for jazz music, our Jazz Band offers the perfect opportunity to explore this unique genre. Join fellow musicians as you learn to improvise, syncopate, and create soulful melodies. Our Jazz Band invites students to embrace the spirit of collaboration, creativity, and the joy of making music together.

Piano

For aspiring pianists, our Culture Department provides comprehensive one-on-one instrumental lessons which are examined by the University of West London under London College of Music (LCM) and the associated Board of the Royal Schools of music (ABRSM). Students have the opportunity to prepare for various music exams, which serve as milestones in their musical journey. Our experienced teachers guide students through the intricacies of piano playing, fostering a love for this timeless instrument.
